The current Mayor and Council were voted into office in 2022 and will hold office until October 17, 2026.

This page is intended to provide Oak Bay residents with a clear and accessible overview of the current Mayor and Council. For each elected official, we have included links to their personal or campaign website where available, their official biography on the District of Oak Bay website, and their 2022 campaign financial disclosure documents. The goal of this page is to make information about elected representatives easier to find in one place, support civic engagement, and encourage transparency around local government leadership and decision-making.

Oak Bay Council Member Renumeration & Expenses

Under section 168 of the BC Community Charter every municipality has to prepare an annual report that lists the remuneration paid and expenses reimbursed for each member of Council.

Remuneration 2023-25

Mayor Kevin Murdoch received  $59,361, $62,228 and $63,446 in remuneration for each year respectively while each Councillor received $24,996, $26,689 and $26,969 respectively over the three years.

The report for 2026 won't be available until May/June 2027.

Campaign Financial Disclosures

Under the BC Local Elections Campaign Financing Act(LECFA) all candidates running for local government office are required to file disclosure statements that identify who funded their campaigns and how campaign money was spent. 

This is to promote transparency, accountability, and public confidence in local elections and democratic processes by letting voters see who is financially supporting candidates and scrutinize potential influences on elected officials.

Disclosure reports are published by Elections BC through its Financial Reports and Political Contributions system.

In the 2022 municipal campaign, the Council members who were elected raised the following amounts for their campaigns:

The LECFA does not require the public disclosure of the names of campaign contributors of under $100 or anonymous contributions of $50 or less. A summary of these for all candidates can be found HERE.
